AirDrive is a file storage utility that uses the storage capacity of linked IMAP enabled email accounts for file storage with an FTP-like interface.
AirDrive connects to your email account just like any other email client (like Thunderbird or Outlook). When you upload a file, it stores that file in an email attachment and places the file's properties in the subject. From there, the file is moved into the AirDrive folder located on the email server.
AirDrive employs many security features to help keep your account safe.
- Your email account information (username, password) is stored inside of an encrypted XML file that is created when you make your AirDrive profile.
- All communication with the email servers is encrypted (if supported) with SSL/TLS
- A Secure upload feature stores all file data and attributes securely on the server with a key that is based on your profile password.
